What I have heard is true!

So here it is, 5pm in the evening, and this is the sun out of my hotel window.

Hot, Humid, and not much to see! I am sure there are lots of sights, but I have only been in Beijing for 4 hours.  I have heard on a good day, you can see the mountains, I saw the sun!

Last time I saw the sun like this was during the massive forest fire season when I lived in Colorado back in 2002, when there was a 68,000 acre fire about 30 miles south of where I worked.  That should give a little perspective!

Yes, the air is as bad as they say! The word is that they shoot rockets up in the air causing it to rain and clear out the sky.

Coincidently, it is suppose to rain during the opening ceremonies! go figure
